Parents/Guardians and Concord Students:
Research studies have shown that during an extended summer vacation learning loss is a well-documented phenomena, with students losing between an average of 2.6 months’ worth of knowledge. This translates to students losing an average of 36% of their school-year gains in reading and a whopping 50% loss of their school-year gains in math. This is frequently referred to as “summer learning loss” or the “summer slide.”
In order to guard against this loss, all Concord Academy students are required to complete certain Reading/ELA and Math assignments this summer. All work is due the first day of class (Monday, August 12, 2019) with no exceptions. Grades for summer work will be recorded your the first TEST grade of the 2019-2020 academic school year.
